Location: Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, and Pennsylvania

CWA 1 50 Young Marines 10 Registered Adults

CWA 2 50 Young Marines 10 Registered Adults

Qualifications:

Minimum age: 12 years old (at start of adventure)

Maximum age: None

Minimum rank: YM/PFC with a date of rank on or before 1 October 2004

Minimum TIP: One year on or before 1 April 2005

PFT Classification: 3rd Class (within 4 months of application date)

Other: Member in good standing

Participated in two overnight unit activities without incident

Requires lots of walking

Application Fee:

Full Fee: $300.00

Discounted Fee: $250.00 (For all applications submitted and approved by National Headquarters on or before 28 February 2005)

Youth Application: Complete and submit the following:

            1. Youth Activity Application and Permission Form

            2. Unit check with appropriate Application Fee

Unit Restrictions: Units are restricted to 3 Young Marines in CWA 1 and 3 Young Marines in CWA 2. The restriction will be lifted on 1 March 2005. Additional applications sent to National Headquarters over the restricted number postmarked before 1 March 2005 will be returned to the unit without action.

            1) For safety reasons, Young Marines will not bring electronic entertainment devices. They are not authorized and will be confiscated for the duration of the Adventure and returned prior to departure.

            2) Mobile telephones or pagers are prohibited for all Young Marines. As a minimum and if time allows, Young Marines will be given an opportunity to call home on arrival and prior to departure from the destination airport.

            3) THE YOUNG MARINES OR ITS ADULT VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY STOLEN, LOST, OR MISSING MONEY OR PERSONAL ITEMS.

Junior Leadership School

Description: The Junior Leadership School is a leadership program designed to help Junior Young Marines to develop their interpersonal and leadership skills. Instruction includes in-depth discussion on the definition of leadership, the leadership principle and traits, introduction to the Young Marines 5 Troop Leading Steps, the conduct of close order drill and unit physical training. The school’s goal is to prepare the Young Marine for leadership positions in their units, schools, and communities.

Dates: Junior Leadership School (JLS) 25 June-2 July 2005

Location: Illinois Army National Guard Training Center, Marseilles, IL

Number of Participants:

JLS 100 Young Marines

12 Registered Adults (Staff from ALS)

Qualifications:

Minimum age: 11 years old (at time of school)

Maximum age: None

Minimum rank: For 11 & 12 years old, YM/CPL date of rank on or before 1 Oct 04

For 13 & older, YM/LCPL date of rank on or before 1 Oct 04

Minimum TIP: One year on or before 1 April 2005

PFT Classification: 3rd Class (within 4 months of application date)

Other: Member in good standing

Mature enough to travel alone

    3. 3) For safety reasons, Young Marines will not bring radios and /or compact disc players. They are not authorized and will be confiscated for the duration of the Adventure returned prior to departure.
    4. 4) Mobile telephones or pagers are prohibited for all Young Marines. As a minimum and if time allows, Young Marines will be given an opportunity to call home on arrival and prior to departure from the destination airport.

Senior Leadership School

Description: The Senior Leadership School is a leadership program designed to help Senior Young Marines master the difficult art of leadership. Instruction includes conducting unit close order drill, physical training, improving interpersonal skills, studying ethics, and becoming more aware and sensitive to the needs of others. The school’s goal is to prepare the Young Marines for senior leadership positions in their units, schools, and communities.

Dates: Senior Leadership School (SLS) 18-25 June 2005

Location: Illinois Army National Guard Training Center, Marseilles, IL

18 Young Marine Staff (YMS) (See instructions below to apply.)

    1. 1. YMS applicant must be an ALS graduate.
